Should I be writing travel articles in 2025?

I feel an impulse to apologize for my lack of care for this blog. I can’t bring myself to shut it down, and it seems to have just as many monthly readers as ever, which perplexes me. Ordinary people are being kidnapped in my country, my city, my neighborhood, and “deported” to known and unknown locations. Somehow writing about the top ten foods to try isn’t doing it for me anymore.

On the matter of my personal life, I’ve moved to Seattle after 15 years in Brooklyn, and lost some of my biggest contracts in the process. I’ve had a career change from freelance web developer to freelance art teacher and artist, which has been brutally difficult both on my psyche and body. Hauling hundreds of pounds of gear to a market in variable weather (lately heat stroke inducing) with variable margins has really had me question much of my past and future direction.

From a technological perspective, generative AI work has taken over search results after harvesting data allegedly legally, allegedly consensually. I frankly haven’t had the energy to figure out how to work around or work with this, and between that and federal budget cuts to arts and sciences, many of my friends and support network are unemployed, underemployed, employed but exploited, etc.

Whether I continue to write on Wondrous Paths or not is an open question. I don’t have a monthly article plan anymore, and will be focusing my efforts on some of my newer projects including:

Honestly, it’s most likely I will be focusing most of my writing efforts on my press. We have a huge backlog of exciting projects that I will be releasing, so if you are interested in following along, please visit our site and sign up for the newsletter!

Thank you as always for reading,

Rosie
